METRICS

LCP, CLS, INP: understand your visitor’s experience.

Loading, stability, responsiveness: three different questions.

MEASURE→UNDERSTAND→VERIFY

LCP: when the main content appears

Largest Contentful Paint estimates when the largest visible content element appears. It may be an image or a text block. It helps explain when the page starts to feel useful. Examine the element and its loading chain before making changes.

CLS: a page that stays in place

Cumulative Layout Shift measures unexpected element movements. An image without reserved dimensions or content inserted above text can move the page. Setting media dimensions and reserving component space prevents some of these surprises.

INP and TBT are not interchangeable

Interaction to Next Paint describes responsiveness to real interactions. A Lighthouse loading audit uses Total Blocking Time to identify work that blocks the browser. Pingsivo displays this lab TBT; it does not present it as a measurement of your visitors’ INP.

Lab and field data complement each other

Simulation helps reproduce conditions and diagnose a page. Field data reflects real visits over time. This version of Pingsivo provides lab reports and does not claim a Core Web Vitals assessment based on missing field data.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Read metrics in the right order

  1. Check the profile and final URL.
  2. Relate LCP to the appearance of the main content.
  3. Observe the visual shifts measured by CLS.
  4. Use TBT to investigate blocking during loading.
  5. Complement these measurements with observations of actual usage.

In Pingsivo, missing metrics remain unavailable. Low TBT does not guarantee that every interaction will be fast after loading. Likewise, low CLS during an audit does not rule out shifts during a longer visit. Keep these limitations in mind when sharing results.
