ONE PROBLEM, ONE NEXT STEP

Understand what is slowing things down.

Comparable tests to move forward without jumping to conclusions.

My connection seems slow

  1. Keep the same device. Stop downloads and note whether a VPN is active.
  2. Run an Internet test near the router. Enable local history and label it “Near the router”.
  3. Repeat the test in your usual location, labeled “Office” or “Living room”.
  4. If possible, repeat using an Ethernet cable, with Wi-Fi disabled on that device.
  5. Compare complete tests in Internet history. Repeat the series at another time.

A repeated difference between cable and Wi-Fi may suggest a wireless limitation. It does not measure signal strength or establish a definite cause.

My website seems slow

  1. Analyze a representative public page without signing into an account or including confidential data in its URL.
  2. Choose the mobile profile and three measurements. The selected report corresponds to the median LCP.
  3. Review the files and elements named in the first suggestions.
  4. Apply a fix on a copy of the site, check functionality, then repeat the same measurements.
  5. Compare reports with the same profile. Differences alone do not prove the effect of a fix.

What the tools cannot establish

An Internet test does not measure Wi-Fi signal strength. A Lighthouse score does not guarantee Google rankings or quality for every visitor. Results from different measurement services may vary with the server and method.
